Install "PDF Annotate" on NextcloudPi

Hey everyone,
I would love to try ā€œPDF Annotateā€ (Nextcloud-Other / Nextcloud Annotate Ā· GitLab) on my Nextcloud as the app ā€œPDF Annotationsā€ / pdfdraw doesnā€™t work anymore.

Unfortunately just using the command sudo -u apache git clone https://gitlab.com/nextcloud-other/nextcloud-annotate pdfannotate gives me the error ā€œsudo: Unbekannter Benutzer: apacheā€ (in german) and I donā€™t know how to fix this :wink:

git clone https://gitlab.com/nextcloud-other/nextcloud-annotate pdfannotate works, but the app doesnā€™t appear in the webinterface of the NC afterwards.

Anyone here who can help me with this?

I donā€™t know if itā€™s a good idea to install the app, since it seems to be only available for Nextcloud 25. Also I donā€™t know how and if it works with NextcloudPi.

Regarding the sudo command, you have to use the webserver (apache2) user, which is probably ā€œwww-dataā€ instead of ā€œapacheā€ for NextcloudPi and Debian/Ubuntu based systems.

I would use apps from https://apps.nextcloud.com. If there are problems with it, I would try to solve these problems. Ask here or write an issue at GitHub for the app.

PDF Annotate continues to work perfectly well with Nextcloud 27.

@devnull its not available through nextcloudā€™s software installer, nor will it be unless someone is interested in taking on the burden of publishing it. There is no comparable software available.

SSH is deactivated by default an not allowed with user sudo on nextcloudpi. There are several security discussions which led to that decision.

You can activate ssh in the webui of ncp (IP:4443).

Thanks, that helped! Installation worked like this!
Unfortunately, saving annotations doesnā€™t work. When I try to save the changes I made I get the error: "PDF save failed, please try again later."

Do I also need to install the listed dependencies (svg2pdf, pdftk, gs)? If yes, it would be awesome to find a complete ā€œinstallation guideā€ somewhere ā€¦

Any ideas whether this is a problem installing in on NCP or anything else?
