Initial docker installation failing

Anyone can point out what I am doing wrong on this docker installation please?

(not sure if its relevant I dont normally use Caddy, I use NGINX, Caddy is only being added to this docker so it works locally or at least thats my understanding)

The error I am getting:
root@NextCloud:~/docker# docker compose up -d
yaml: line 55: did not find expected key

My docker config:

Hello @nextonecloud,
welcome to the Nextcloud community! :handshake:

please quote the code properly for better readeability (as I did above) using either single backtick ` for inline code or 3 backticks ``` for multiline code blocks.

indicates a syntax error in your yaml file. common error are missing/wrong intendation - please review.

Line 55 is - source: Caddyfile from:

     configs:
       - source: Caddyfile
         target: /etc/caddy/Caddyfile

I’m not sure but in look weird source has a dash and target not.. maybe it already the problem.

Thank you. I thought the same  and already tried adding the dash before even posting the request for help. Unfortunately its not that.

Dockers usually work ok, but this one stamped me.

it has nothing to with Docker - it works but you must fix your syntax.

RTFM: according to Docker bind mount docs it should look like this

services:
  frontend:
    volumes:
      - type: bind
        source: ./static
        target: /opt/app/static

Thank you Willie. This is not aimed at you as you are trying to help.

But i guess it would be too much ask for the admin who put the docker config out for people to download to have a working one. So the idea everyone must visit all the links and RTFM on what they missed and if they missed something? Not thank you. I am no expert by any means, but I have about 60 dockers running and they are normally just download the docker-compose file make some changes if you want and run it.

Where as this one is like a maze, if you want that option visit that link you want something else visit another link and so on. My head was spinning.

To be honest with spent the last 4 days watching so many YouTube videos and trying to get this working and in the end i got fed-up and gave up. Looked for alternatives and got seafile running in 1 hour. So maybe a revisit to that docker compose file might help people who is trying it the future.

It’s because your version has incorrect spacing.

caddy is a child of services. It should be indented with two spaces - same as the nextcloud-aio-mastercontainer service. Fixing that, then adjusting all the other spacing similarly, eliminates all issues.

It’s a bit confusing in the original. That can probably be made clearer and tidied up a bit.
