Which general topic do you have

Good morning everyone! I am a member of a reenactment association and we have our web space with Nextcloud installed. This Nextcloud instance serves both as a base where we put everything we need for our researches, and as a space to keep and share those researches. We basically have pdf files (books, articles, researches) and images (miniatures from manuscripts, photos of frescoes, statues and so on). Although using Nextcloud with “general” files is great, I am looking for a way to keep and organize images. By now we have a folder-subfolder organization system, which sucks because a single image might have more than one notable item in it…for example, if I have a miniature showing knights fighting, it may have some interesting swords that fit in Weapons->Swords->One-handed swords, but also a helmet that fits into Armour->Helmets->Closed-face helmets. Also, we usually catalogue those images with relevant data, for example a title, the date, the manuscript they are taken from, and provenance. Putting those informations on filename is quite inefficient.

So, basically, what I’m looking for is a way to add a caption with relevant data to the images, and put tags (every user should be able to do that) and search through them. I took a look ad Nextcloud Photos and also at Memories, they are photos-oriented and only show image exif data (whis is not useful in my case), and ite use of collaborative tags is not intuitive (one has to open the side panel, then click on the menu and chose “Show tags”). My idea is something similar to this site: https://manuscriptminiatures.com/
If possible, I would also try to customize Photos or Memories to show only a caption and tags…but, if possible, I would avoid third part services since I fear it would add complexity to my other group members…

Thanks everyone for your time!
