I'm a moderator, I set a second role, and I want to leave the group

Hello everyone,

I am the administrator of our company’s Nextcloud platform and we use Talk extensively for internal communication.

We frequently run into the following situation:
A user creates a group conversation for a specific department and becomes the moderator/owner of that group. Later, this user is transferred to another department.

Even after assigning moderator permissions to another member, we are unable to remove the original creator from the group. The user also cannot leave the conversation on their own.

In short:
How can I remove a user from a group conversation in Nextcloud Talk when that user was the original creator of the group?

Is there a recommended procedure or administrative workaround for this situation?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Hey there…

I didn’t find a solution to remove an existing owner of a chat from the chat, even if you’re another mod…

but the referring users can leave the referring chat themselves and so a new moderator would be in place (make sure to set a new mod before leaving).

that seems to be a humble workaround.

I fully agree with you that this special usecase should be featured as well… so if you’d be so nice and open a feature-request here after making sure that something similar isn’t mentioned there, already. And please follow the guid to post a feature-request/issue there as closely as possible.

After that it would be nice if you’d link your GH-issue here as an answer.

Thank you in advance

ps: I just saw that you’re using “enterprise” as a tag. If you really have an enterprise subsrciption you should talk to your NC-support as you’re paying exactly for such things.
