Getting help

In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.

Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:

(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).

Nextcloud Server version 31.0.10

I use a hosted Nextcloud: wolkesicher.de

Existing thread on the topic already closed:
https://help.nextcloud.com/t/ics-imported-in-calendar-not-shown/139109

Summary:

After importing ics file in nextcloud calender most events do not show. Only events up to a certain point in time (oct 2023) do show, nothing after that. No error message appears during the installation or afterwards.

I use the nextcloud calender on my web browser.

ICS file was exported from google (I want to move to nextcloud)

When same ics file is importet into another calender (fossify on mobile) all events show properly. I also tried to re-export the ics file from the fossify calender-app and imported it to nextcloud calender. No change.

I also tried waiting for the data to refresh/update on the server.

Couldn’t find anything on github. Also I’m only “just” a user without IT background.

Pls close. I found an alternative solution.

And what is the alternative solution?

My mobile Fossify calender automaticly creates local backups/ ics files wich I now synchronise. Thats good enough for me. I don’t neccesarily need my calender in the Nextcloud calender app.

Did you view into the .ics files with a text editor anytime?
It might bery interesting to do that. There are several versions of the .ics file format in the field.

My experiences in the past were, that the calendar programs understand the different .ics file formats, but sometimes contents of fields got inserted a “Carriage Return” & “Line Feed” at line wrapping, which obviously cannot be processed by all calendars. In some cases the field names differed and so the .ics file could not be imported or the content was incomplete.

(Just as a hint)

I haven’t tried that yet but I think you are right with your guess.

My solution is good enough for me though and I am not very affine of IT stuff that’s why I will not continue the search for the problem but stick with the ics file sync.

Thank you for your thoughts though! I appreciate it.
