I cant edit or view documents on the mobile app. Using Collabora Office

I just setup the server, I can edit and view documents fine when accessing it through the website, however I cant view or edit any documents on the mobile app. On iOS, when I tap on a document it just shows me basic information about the file but it doesn’t actually open the file. I can open the file in Collabora Office app but it’s read-only.

It’s a fresh install on 26 Spring. Everything is running on the latest version from the Nextcloud AIO docker. I stopped all my containers and switched from euro office to collabora via the Nextcloud aio webpage. I set it up using Tailscale serve and its only accessible within the tailnet.

Is there something I have to configure or change?

I think I have the same problem, but with an install has been working properly. Whatever changed is very recent, I would guess in the latest round of point releases. When I try to open a document (ODT’s and ODS’s in my case), I get the so-called iOS “Share Sheet” popping up, this thing:

What I’m used to and expecting is the document will open in the Nextcloud app. What do you mean by “basic information about the file”? Are you getting a share sheet? The top contains file info, like this:

So I thought that might be what you meant.

If so, I don’t think you have a configuration issue, you’ve stumbled on a bug that been introduced very recently.

the original bug was fixed in richdocuments 11.0.1, but people are reporting the same behavior again on 11.1.0, including with Tailscale Serve. what exact richdocuments and iOS app versions are you on?

for now, try long-pressing one document and choosing Make available offline before opening it. that worked around the matching iOS issue:

### Bug description Office files that are not already stored locally open as 0 …KB files in the Nextcloud iOS app. This affects at least DOCX and PPTX files. When I tap a file that has not yet been downloaded, the iOS document viewer appears immediately and shows the file as 0 KB. The same file works normally after selecting **Make available offline**. Sharing the file to Microsoft Word or PowerPoint also works, apparently because the file is downloaded first. Opening the same files through the Nextcloud web interface in a mobile browser works normally. Clearing the app cache and completely uninstalling and reinstalling the Nextcloud iOS app did not resolve the problem. ### Steps to reproduce 1. Open the Nextcloud iOS app. 2. Navigate to a DOCX or PPTX file that has not previously been downloaded. 3. Tap the file. 4. The iOS document viewer opens immediately. 5. The file is shown as 0 KB and cannot be opened. 6. Close the viewer. 7. Long-press the same file and select **Make available offline**. 8. Wait for the download to finish. 9. Tap the file again. 10. The file now opens normally. ### Expected behavior When an Office file is tapped, the app should download the file before passing it to the iOS document viewer, or open it using the configured direct-editing integration. ### Actual behavior The app appears to open an empty local placeholder without first downloading the file contents. The iOS document viewer therefore reports the file as 0 KB. ### Additional observations - Reproduced with DOCX and PPTX files. - Appears to affect all tested Office files that are not already downloaded. - **Make available offline** fixes the problem for that file. - Sharing the file to Word or PowerPoint also works. - Opening the file through the mobile browser works. - Clearing the application cache does not help. - Completely uninstalling and reinstalling the iOS app does not help. - The problem is still reproducible after a clean reinstall. ### Server log comparison When I tap a file normally, there is no WebDAV GET request for the file contents. The app performs general requests such as: ```text GET /ocs/v2.php/apps/files/api/v1/directEditing HTTP/1.1 REPORT /remote.php/dav/files/<user> HTTP/1.1 ``` However, there is no request resembling: ```text GET /remote.php/dav/files/<user>/<path>/<file>.docx HTTP/1.1 ``` When I select **Make available offline**, the app correctly requests and downloads the file: ```text GET /remote.php/dav/files/<user>/<path>/example.docx HTTP/1.1 200 182388 ``` After this successful download, the document opens normally. I wondered if they were the same issue. I did have the “page not found” behaviour earlier, which was indeed resolved. But I actually was getting “page not found” at the time. So the symptoms are different now, getting the Share Sheet.

My current configuration is the following:

Nextcloud: 34.0.2 (linuxserver.io build)

Nextcloud Office (Collabora): 11.1.0

Nextcloud Matheria for iOS: 34.1.0.6

Note that I’m running on Linux using Docker.

I tried the long press to save locally, that did not help, I still got the Share Sheet.

The issue has been logged here.

My iOS client has been updated to 34.1.1.2 and the issue still occurs with it.

Further Update:

The bug has been closed as fixed in 34.1.2. The Nextcloud app on my iOS devices updated to 34.1.2.6 overnight and I can confirm the fix.
