I am running nextcloud aio with Nextcloud Hub 25 Autumn (32.0.3), why still text app is stuck on version 6.0.1?

I have no support/technical question and have seen the support category. (Be aware that direct support questions will be deleted.)

Which general topic do you have

Nextcloud Hub 25 Autumn (32.0.3) still have text app with version 6.0.1, no update available, no new features like LaTeX support and especially no information anywhere, how to update it! I can’t even select in notes app to use text app.

For NC32, the text app is in version 6.0.1:
https://github.com/nextcloud/text/blob/stable32/appinfo/info.xml

was this announced?

Yes for Nextcloud Hub 25 Autumn (32.0.3) the text app is still with version 6.0.1 that is what I originally said, which I think is very old. Why is it so? The new updated text app has latex feature and it is way more ahead in versioning.

My question is why it is not yet supported in Nextcloud Hub 25 Autumn (32.0.3)?

LaTeX features are must for students, faculties and researchers and will be much more helpful.

LaTeX features are already announced for the latest text app, you can check the text repo.

The text app is bundled with Nextcloud.

If you want stability, it is common practice not to use the latest major version, and then it would be counterintuitive if new features were also backported to older major versions.

Yes, I agree that is a really cool feature. Unfortunately, they don’t annonce new features like this before the official release date.

I don’t know if it works or if there are breaking changes, you could try to install the text app manually from github.

If it’s not very urgent and you want to test, the first NC33 beta versions and release candidates are expected in January:

That is especially helpful, if you still find some bugs and issues, they’ll more likely to be fixed until the official release.

Hi everyone, just FYI: the Latex integration requires a special app and backend.

See Overleaf - Apps - App Store - Nextcloud.

This was already getting worked on for AIO. See Add support of overleaf as community container by docjyJ · Pull Request #6914 · nextcloud/all-in-one · GitHub

Thanks for the info.
Now, the first beta seems to be out:

Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts.

However, what I exactly want is clearly described in the screenshot of the link I am sharing here.

This thing is already included I think in the latest version of text app and which is supported in the standalone nextcloud but unfortunately not yet in the nextcloud AIO.

It is a must have thing for researchers of science and it would be better if included now in nextcloud AIO

No, it’s a new feature. It’ll be in the upcoming v33 of Nextcloud Server. The Text app isn’t an independent app. It’s maintained/shipped as part of Nextcloud Server.

Standalone (bare metal) versus AIO is irrelevant. And the version number of the Text app itself is mostly an internal matter since it’s shipped (and updated) only via new Nextcloud Server releases.

Not sure if you can go for testing with a AIO that runs a beta version. You can do it on a standalone version.

It is however a new feature, and it is a good thing that it isn’t just added and goes through testing first. It’s understandable that you want to have a feature soon but if it isn’t working that does not help anybody.
