How well does the Nextcloud mail app perform with a large number of emails on the server?

I’ve been reading this thread and it seems that the outcome could be somewhat mixed:

I’ve successfully connected the Nextcloud mail client to my email service provider using IMAP. But emails that have been deleted (or moved to folders) on the server persist in the Nextcloud client list of emails. When I click on any of these (deleted or moved) emails in the list, the client then reports that the email is ‘Not found’ and ‘Could not load the desired message’. However, I understand that this thread is several years old, so I was wondering if there is any updated review of Nextcloud that could shed more light on the performance of the Nextcloud app when working with a mail server with a large number of messages.

The referenced issue was resolved with one of the latest maintenance releases for mail.
