How to install Nextcloud on cPanel, with Softaculous?

In this tutorial, Cloudamo will show you how to install Nextcloud on cPanel using Softaculous, which is a tool that automates the installation of various web applications.

Step 1: Log in to cPanel

To access Softaculous, you need to log in to your cPanel account. You can do this by entering your domain name followed by /cpanel in your web browser. For example, https://example.com/cpanel. Then, enter your username and password and click on the Log in button.

Step 2: Find Softaculous

Once you are logged in to cPanel, scroll down to the Software section and click on the Softaculous App Installer icon. This will open a new window with a list of web applications that you can install using Softaculous.

Step 3: Select Nextcloud

On the left sidebar, click on the File Management category and then scroll down to find Nextcloud. Click on it to see more details about the application, such as its features, ratings, reviews, and demos. To start the installation process, click on the Install Now button.

Step 4: Fill in the installation details

On the next screen, you need to fill in some information about your Nextcloud installation, such as:

  • Choose Protocol: Select the protocol that you want to use for your Nextcloud URL. If you have an SSL certificate, you can choose https:// or https://www.. Otherwise, you can choose http:// or http://www..
  • Choose Domain: Select the domain name that you want to use for your Nextcloud installation. You can choose from the domains that you have added to your cPanel account.
  • In Directory: Enter the directory name where you want to install Nextcloud. If you want to install it in the root directory of your domain, leave this field blank. For example, if you enter nextcloud here, your Nextcloud URL will be https://example.com/nextcloud.
  • Site Name: Enter the name of your Nextcloud site. This will be displayed in the title bar of your web browser and in the Nextcloud interface.
  • Admin Username: Enter the username that you want to use to log in to your Nextcloud admin panel. This should be different from your cPanel username and password.
  • Admin Password: Enter the password that you want to use to log in to your Nextcloud admin panel. This should be strong and secure, and different from your cPanel password.
  • Admin Email: Enter the email address that you want to use for your Nextcloud admin account. This will be used for notifications and password recovery.

After filling in the details, click on the Install button at the bottom of the page.

Step 5: Wait for the installation to complete

Softaculous will now start installing Nextcloud on your cPanel account. This may take a few minutes, depending on your server speed and internet connection. You can see the progress of the installation on the screen. Do not close the window or refresh the page until the installation is complete.

Step 6: Access your Nextcloud site

Once the installation is complete, you will see a confirmation message with the URL of your Nextcloud site and the admin panel. You can click on these links to access your Nextcloud site and log in with your admin username and password. You can also bookmark these links for future reference.
