How do I update php version used?

The Basics

  • Nextcloud Server version (e.g., 29.x.x):
    • 31.0.2
  • Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 24.04):
    • 22.04
  • Web server and version (e.g, Apache 2.4.25):
    • Apache2
  • PHP version (e.g, 8.3):
    • 8.1

I want to update php version used by NC (I setup NC about 3 years back and at this point forgot what went into php version)
Also would like to update OS but only if everything related to NC works.

How do I go about updating php version used by NC? (I’ve php8.1, 8.3 and 8.4 installed)

sometimes it would help if you would dare to search the forum before posting.
Some nice guy has your back

and it’s said to work wonderfully

good luck

With upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS you get PHP 8.3 link

Nextcloud 31 system requirements

Because Nextcloud 31 supports PHP 8.1 to PHP 8.4 i think there is no problem with upgrading Ubuntu 22.04 LTS to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. But first make a backup and i do not use Ubuntu. Sorry.

Actually yes, I should have searched before asking.

While updating yesterday I hit " Doctrine\DBAL\Exception: Failed to connect to the database" none of the existing questions helped so started thread for that before realizing just using different php version to run occ helps. So instead just asked about php version.

I should have just looked / searched at least once before asking though.
