How do I install the nextcloud deck app on a linux desktop?

Hey, I like the nextcloud deck application, used it in web browser and as an ios app. Now, I want to install it to my Ubuntu desktop computer. How is this done?

I downloaded the tar.gz file. And then, I am stuck. No binary. No start up file. And no hint in the README describing the installation process. Config and make files also not available.

Thanks in advance for any hint.

There currently is no native Deck desktop client.

What you downloaded is the Deck server app, written in PHP and supposed to run on your server.

The closest thing I could imagine if you don’t want to use a browser: Run the Deck Android app in an emulator - to be honest: No idea whether that works at all (the Deck Android app uses SSO and is technically some kind of “special” therefore).

Is anyone working on this? It is a bit clunky having to use a browser and of course it requires you to be online?

… bump …
(body isn’t to short and context isn’t unclear despite the dumb auto check. All I’m looking for is an answer, or is this forum dead.? There seems to be a bit of a demand for a solution.)

apparently you haven’t really gotten behind the idea of open source software.

It’s NOT like you go somewhere and tell: hey I need this and that. and then - out of the blue - 1 week later it’ll magically appear. NO, my friend. If you urgently want to have things done go and develop them yourself. THAT’s the way it goes. Like it or not but you won’t change it.

this might be still valid even now.

well 2 guys asking for it within 18 months? for me that equals to “no real demand” at all.

BUt anyways: get active and try making your first own app. Become a member of the Open Source-developpers-community
