Tips for increasing the likelihood of a response

  • Use the preformatted text formatting option in the editor for all log entries and configuration output.
  • If screenshots are useful, feel free to include them.
    • If possible, also include key error output in text form so it can be searched for.
  • Try to edit log output only minimally (if at all) so that it can be ran through analyzers / formatters by those trying to help you.

Hi,
What can I do to fix this error that is reoccuring regular 10x per day. Also sometimes the log reader in the nextcloud admin entyries appear in sets of 2 of the same item at exact same time. Do I wait longer for fail2ban to work or is this anther issue that I can fix?

I updated my fail2ban to use cloudflare to block the ips with the action file cloudflare-token.conf which is included in the fail2ban. Hopefully this will improve the fail2ban and fix my problem. I was unaware of this option until I did some research.

Hi @Richard_Horan,

You (like all of us) are simply being scanned by Microsoft. It’s really annoying, but it can definitely be fixed with fail2ban. I’ve already described how to do that (I think I need to write a how-to guide about it).

In this case, if it is always the same ip/network, perhaps an abuse report would be a good idea? Perhaps something goes wrong and they are not aware of it?

Thank you. @ernolf My problem is solved for this past day I have no errors. I added multiple fail2ban jails including what is in the article, which block the ip addresses with cloudflare and there are 100+ ips blocked through clouldflare now with fail2ban and I no longer get the error. I was getting traffic from Hong Kong, China, Japan, Europe, Saudi Arabia and more. I used some cloudflare regional blocking.
