Is there any way to remove the Recommended files from the android client? I don’t want to see them, they’re of no use to me. Also, they don’t always show up, sometimes they appear and disappear, which is quite annoying.

Yes!!! Ever since this was added I’ve been looking for way to disable it. I naturally look to the Settings → Files section every few updates hoping to see a toggle to disable the recommended files.
I assume this is provided by the recommendations app, so try occ app:disable recommendations
