Which general topic do you have
Hi, i wanted to say Hello!
I was working on some Nextcloud App i wanted for a long Time already but never found. Iam curious if there is some sort of Showcase area where i can submit some Images and maybe get some Feedback. Iam a Developer Myself with 10+ years of experience. But this was my first - guided - vibecoding project i did and it came out kinda nice.
I dont even know if anybody has interest in the App or if it is good or anything - it is generally for video files to sort and search for different metadata like runtime, tags, genres, directors, with tmdb connector (if you have an API Key) etc..
Well. i keep it that way.. wait for some response..

DEpending on your intended outcome, you could consider going to the Design team and ask for a feedback. They offer to give feedback for any app on how to make the app conformant with the overall NC look&feel and how an app could be enhanced (from user perspective).
Kind of.. Basicly yes; i want to genereally talk about App Development - best practices - user feedback - maybe issues with the code i developed - new ideas and additions to the app if wanted.
Iam at a point where the App would suffice for myself and my friends. But if there would be some interest from the Community in it i might go the last 10% to make it final.
Something like that… Or is there another place for this sort of community development things?
Well,… I’d say if you publish it you will see feature requests for all kinds of ideas for your app. It will be up to you to see to them being sorted, priorized and decided.
I’d personally say, do not directly aim for 100% as this will cost quite some time and I am unsure if the users will anticipate it. Maybe you did not think of a use case?
But, you could present it on the community chat (no idea if this will get some feedback or not). You could as well join the NC conference if you were close by (or are you there in any case?). There are quite some people that are interested and might be able/willing to help you out.
Honestly i dont really know if People here can use it. My App has a narrow use case i believe. It basicly only picks up Folders you set in the Settings - collects xml data and images in the folders - and renders the contents in a “more styleish” way then just a regular folder view. in addition, all data gets loaded in a indexed local db, wich you can then search through pretty fast and quick for specific videodata informations within the accompanig xml files.
Not sure if anybody uses Nextcloud to connect it via webdav to Kodi. But basicly its just an app that shows videos in a nice way and agregates some more infos from an API - basicly the webinterface you can use on holidays if your tv is not close.
I only needed a tool that helped me Browse my collection, search through it with complicated connected search terms (e.x.: year:>1990&year:<1995&!languages:es&!languages:de+actor.role:ripley&genre:sci-fi
) of videofiles and make them accessible to not that tech savvy users in different styled categories and modules wich you can configure yourself and style.
it basicly also circumvents all nextcloud related styling and everything as far as i can say.
important to mention. i never really came around making a deep dive for app development for nextcloud. iam sure iam missing out on a LOOOOOT there.. This is also my first VibeCoding project - so it IS AI generated (i dont really know how the communitys standpoint on this is..) for a big portion of it. But i try to guide the AI not making too stupid things. In the End it was also for me learning a bit more about Nextcloud and understanding the structure better how internally stuff is working etc. This Project “VibeFlix” was my go for it…
it is NOT a videoplayer, but can play videos IF the format is correct!
Edit: I believe there is a transcoding app already wich could probably encode existing videos in mp4 / ac-3 with correct streaming bit to make it even more “wholesome” and be able to use a videoplayer too.
Also.. How do i publish the App? Do i publish the app since i feel its more of a Beta-Version then something i would feel good about “Publishing” - i feel fine giving access to the code and everything via Github etc.
So, then i just make some new Post in General-Topic for the app and introduce it a bit, ask for feedback, give some examples and screenshots (maybe test access on a clear NC installation?) ?
