Summary of the issue you are facing:
One person IT department here, mostly looking for suggestions about what to do with my organizations old Nextcloud server. It’s a physical box that was set up before I was here, the person who set it up says “I’m pretty sure I set it up with a script from github or Hansson IT”, but I’d like to move from Ubuntu 20.04 to something current.
The issue I’m running into, if I upgrade php, or postgresql (on version 12), or Ubuntu itself, the Apache webserver won’t start anymore, and after spending months trying to figure out why, I’m out of ideas.
So, what I’m wondering is about moving to the AIO docker image, that seems to be “recommended”, however I’ve never used docker for anything before so I’m not sure how I’d get my backed up user data onto it, or my database data onto it.
The AIO documentation says I can have 100 users, does that mean “active” users, or users that exist? We use Active Directory authentication, and there’s organizational policies against users in AD being deleted, ever, so I have several hundred users, but maybe 5 of them are active Nextcloud users.
Last question, do “shared link” URLs change after migrating to a different server if I’m using the same hostname? For example, if there is currently ournextcloudhostname.tld/share/dskjfhsadkljfdskljsdsfkl for some shared document, and there’s QR codes attached to buildings or physical print media pointing at links to shared files on our Nextcloud instance, do those links “still work” after migration? (yes, I know the QR codes “should” be pointing to some permanent link and then redirecting to the real content, but I can’t do anything about what should have been done before I worked here)
Alternately, does Nextcloud offer “single ticket” support, to work with a person who I pay to just update my existing server to a newer version of the software it’s running, I’ve seen there’s the Nextcloud Enterprise subscriptions, but that’s out of our price range and not necessarily feasible for having one issue (this one) in the last several years we’ve been using the product.
