Group administrator can no longer add users to groups

The Basics

  • Nextcloud Server version (e.g., 29.x.x):
    • 30.0.11
  • Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 24.04):
    • Ubuntu 22.04
  • PHP version (e.g, 8.3):
    • 8.2
  • Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No):
    • Yes
  • When did this problem seem to first start?
    • Since the update from 30.0.4 to 30.0.11

Summary of the issue you are facing:

As a group administrator, you used to be able to assign a group directly to a user (under Accounts > Edit > Groups). Since the last update, this no longer seems to work. If you want to add a user to a group as a group admin and search for the group, you only get the message “No results” - regardless of which group you enter.

I have noticed that currently only system administrators seem to be able to add users to groups.

Does anyone have any idea whether this is a bug or whether there is a new assignment of rights? Is there perhaps a way to enable this function for group administrators again?

Many thanks for your help!

I believe this was already fixed. It’s in 30.0.12.

Sorry, but after 2 hours I discovered that version 31.0.6 has the same problem. Updatring to 31.0.7 solved this.
I could not change any membership, but saw everything in 31.0.6.

Strange enough this is not a problem with all 31.0.5 cloud we manage.
