Summary of the issue you are facing:
Group administrators in Nextcloud are unable to create users within the groups they administer. Instead, they are only shown the admin group, which they are not admins of, preventing them from managing the members of their assigned groups.
Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):
- Access Nextcloud with an account (ex. ThisIsTestAdmin)
- Go to the Accounts page (https://cloud.example.com/settings/users)
- First hint that something’s wrong is that I can’t see the groups I’m part of nor group admin of.
Current behavior:
Expected behavior (Paint edit):
- Press the + New Account button.
- Try to assign a group in the “Member of the following groups” sections.
- You’ll only be able to select the “admin” group, even if the group admin is not an admin.

- As expected, trying to create an admin as a non-admin user throws an error.

Tips for increasing the likelihood of a response
- Use the
preformatted textformatting option in the editor for all log entries and configuration output. - If screenshots are useful, feel free to include them.
- If possible, also include key error output in text form so it can be searched for.
- Try to edit log output only minimally (if at all) so that it can be ran through analyzers / formatters by those trying to help you.
