Effectively the issue is that the “swipe to close” left → right is way too sensitive and while trying to scroll horizontally in spreadsheets the app will attempt to close them. This causes the splash screen to appear if you don’t swipe far enough (which never disappears). Or just closes the open document. I would propose there should not be this gesture when in documents in iOS or at least have an option to disable it.
