Which general topic do you have

I use NC mainly for hosting the different, partially shared calendars of 4 family members and also their address books and have it all synced to our android smartphones.

NC is currently installed on webspace in version 27.1.1, I simply didn’t have time to look after the updates. I often struggled with the updates in the past.

I would now like to get to the latest version.

Would it make sense to just install a new version in parallel and then ex/import the calendars and address books, setup the users again and off we go?

By applying the same URL, the other users wouldn’t even notice it, would they?

Any thoughts on this?

yes, that would probably be quicker and simpler than trying to update step by step from major version 27 to major version 32. lastly its your choice…

Are there appropriate export and import tools? - Or are you talking about database backup and restore of certain tables (which I would consider risky)?

I did it by

  • Installing a fresh NC
  • Creating the users with same password
  • Exporting from the old instance the calendars of every user manually (ICS)
  • Same for address book (vcf)
  • Importing these files under the new user

Seems working now.
