In the admin settings i found a checkbox for “Some OCR format”
I tried a JPG with text but it had no effect?
This is really alpha, JPEG are not indexed yet

Then you didn’t install the files app.
With the next release of fulltextsearch, you will need this app to do the OCR. However, because it is just a wrapper of the Tesseract command line, don’t expect too much support…
