Greetings to all. I would like to voice a thought (perhaps it is visiting someone else) regarding the search function in nextcloud. Taking into account the tasks that, it seems to me, the user of the system sets for himself, installing it at home or using it in a corporate environment, the search must be built into the core of the system itself. Yes, some kind of search tool is already available, but Iām still talking about a full-fledged tool - full-text search for heterogeneous content. Now there is a situation that is extremely inconvenient and unproductive, in my opinion, when a seemingly good option with elasticsearch + tesseract needs to be installed additionally. But at the same time, there are obvious limitations in terms of supporting this solution when the user is faced with the question of the relevance of the system. Search plugins do not have time to develop with the system and we are forced to either abandon them or leave the platform un-updated for compatibility. What is the point of a large file storage if finding something in it will become an impossible task over time? But nextcloud is not just some kind of storage (such as seafile or Dropbox), but a real information center/manager. So without a normal search, including the contents of files, it seems to me that it will become more and more difficult to manage over time.
