Getting help
In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.
Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:
- Official documentation (searchable and regularly updated)
- How to topics and FAQs
- Forum search
(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).
Some or all of the below information will be requested if it isn’t supplied; for fastest response please provide as much as you can.
The Basics
- Nextcloud Server version (e.g., 29.x.x): Nextcloud 28 (initial installation attempt)
- Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 24.04): Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (Noble Numbat) on ARM64 (aarch64)
- Web server and version (e.g, Apache 2.4.25): nginx 1.24.0
- Reverse proxy and version (e.g. nginx 1.27.2): nginx 1.24.0 (acting as web server and reverse proxy)
- PHP version (e.g, 8.3): 8.3
- Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No): Yes (for this installation attempt)
- When did this problem seem to first start?: Immediately upon attempting web access after OS upgrade and server setup.
- Installation method (e.g. AlO, NCP, Bare Metal/Archive, etc.): Bare Metal / Manual installation on a VPS
- Are you using CloudfIare, mod_security, or similar? (Yes / No): No
Summary of the issue you are facing:
I am attempting a fresh installation of Nextcloud 28 on an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) VPS. I have completed the server setup, including installing Nginx (1.24.0) and PHP 8.3 FPM, configuring Nginx for Nextcloud, and setting correct file permissions.
However, when I try to access https://nextcloud.kworld.space
in my web browser, I receive an ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE
error. This indicates that the server cannot be reached on ports 80 or 443 from the internet.
My server’s public IP is 152.67.80.212
, and the domain nextcloud.kworld.space
correctly resolves to this IP.
All server-side components appear to be running correctly:
sudo systemctl status nginx
shows Nginx isactive (running)
.sudo systemctl status php8.3-fpm
shows PHP 8.3 FPM isactive (running)
.sudo ufw status
showsufw: command not found
, indicating no local firewall is active.
The issue appears to be with the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) networking/firewall, despite configuration attempts. I have created explicit Ingress Rules in the associated VCN’s Security List for TCP ports 80 and 443, allowing traffic from 0.0.0.0/0
. I have also confirmed there are no Network Security Groups (NSGs) active. A hard reboot of the instance from the OCI console was performed, but the issue persists.
Because the connection never reaches the Nextcloud application or the web server, I cannot proceed with the Nextcloud web-based setup.
Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):
- Attempt to access
https://nextcloud.kworld.space
in a web browser. - The browser displays
ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE
.

Maybe someone knows of an affordable VPS, as Oracle is not good. I can’t set my own server as I don’t have a reliable Internet connection.
