So I signed up for a free thegood.cloud account as I wanted to try playing with/learning about nextcloud but it did not seem like there was a way to install apps? In reading in the forum it sounds like some free hosters only allow pre-installed core apps? Are there any free providers that allow installing apps? I donāt imagine I would need much space really I am a learning by tinkering person and self/home hosting isnāt an option now so I was hoping to try a free vps option?
Hi
Free account implies often a lot of limitations but you can probably subscribe a basic account with a provider where you can stop it every month and so quite limited cost to try

Any free provider will have strict limits, installing apps can cause high resource usage or problems, in general some basic apps are provided, there can be limits on users, admin options.
Hello,
All most all modern PCs, built within last decade, supports Virtualization.
Why donāt you self host one yourself. You would be just trying and playing around right?
Nextcloud has a prebuild VMā¦ Just download and start it upā¦ Not much tech things needs to be done for get it going.
Thanks.
