Forum sign up by creating new account not possible

Today I tried to sign up for these forums by creating a new account. I couldn’t pass the first screen which complained about the password being identical to the user name, which was not the case. I eventually had to sign up using a google account.

I just tested, and I was able to create a new account.

Unless many other registration forms, you do not have a second field to confirm the password. But there is a field to put your name (if you want it to differ from your username). Might that caused some confusions?
