I am writing to suggest a feature that I believe would significantly enhance the user experience in Nextcloud, particularly for those who frequently work with multiple cloud services.
Feature Suggestion: Automated Data Import from External Cloud Services
The idea is to introduce a functionality in Nextcloud that allows users to automatically import data from external sources such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar services. Instead of the current process where users manually upload files to Nextcloud, this feature would enable them to simply input a link (e.g., a Google Drive shareable link), and Nextcloud would automatically download and integrate the files into their Nextcloud storage.
Key Benefits:
- Efficiency: This feature would save users considerable time, especially when transferring large amounts of data.
- User-Friendliness: It simplifies the data transfer process, making Nextcloud even more accessible to users of all technical levels.
- Versatility: By supporting multiple external cloud services, this feature would make Nextcloud a central hub for all of a user’s data, regardless of where it was originally stored.
Current Status and Development:
- If such a feature already exists, I would appreciate any guidance on how to implement or enable it.
- If it doesn’t exist, I believe this would be a “must-have” feature for the future development of Nextcloud. It would greatly enhance the platform’s functionality and appeal to a broader user base.
I would love to hear the community’s thoughts on this suggestion. If there are any existing plugins or workarounds that already offer this capability, I would be grateful for any recommendations. Additionally, I would be interested in collaborating or supporting the development of this feature if it’s something the community considers valuable.
