So, is it really true that noone at Nextcloud thinks exporting and importing talk chat history is a useful thing?
Cause nearly NINE YEARS after a request on Github there are still people here pointing at this request to prevent a discussion and to close the threads. For nearly a decade now.
after 9 years, no simple solution is available for this
even the “user migration” addon does not provide this important feature
people like me want to export/import chat history and have no idea how to do this with different databases in different dockers on the source/target systems
there is no help and no in-depth explanation on this anywhere in the web, just people throwing cryptic commands
noone describes a procedure to export/import
Does anyone know an in-depth source explaining the steps to perform a successful export/import from different databases? (No, the aio migration explanation really is no help)
There are probably many more features that could be implemented and would be useful to someone, but resources are limited, so priorities must be set.
Why? If you want to migrate from an existing AIO instance to a new one, or reinstall your current server, the recommended method is via backup and restore. Did you try that and it didn’t work, or why do you think it’s of no help?
Also, it would be helpful if you could link to the resources you’re referring to, so people trying to help can better understand your context.
That’s because there is no export/import feature for Talk conversations. The only way to move them is by migrating the database.
