Escaping HTML entities in deck card is not possible

In the Nextcloud Markdown editor I can insert HTML entities like   or & literally by using a \ in front of the entity code to escape the text and keep it as it is.

However in Deck cards the \ seems to be ignored completely. And a text like this:

\  \&

Will always be treated and saved as non-breaking space or ampersand and not as the literal text “ ” or “&”.

Is this a known bug?
