Getting help
In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.
Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:
- Official documentation (searchable and regularly updated)
- How to topics and FAQs
- Forum search
(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).
Some or all of the below information will be requested if it isn’t supplied; for fastest response please provide as much as you can. ![]()
The Basics
- Nextcloud Server version (e.g., 29.x.x):
- 30.0.15 (nextcloudpi)
- Operating system and version (e.g., Ubuntu 24.04):
Ubuntu 25.04
- Web server and version (e.g, Apache 2.4.25):
curl -headonly shows “Apache” not sure where else to find it.
- Reverse proxy and version _(e.g. nginx 1.27.2)
- ? I don’t think I’m using a reverse proxy. How could I find out?
- PHP version (e.g, 8.3):
- 8.3.17
- Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No):
no
- When did this problem seem to first start?
from the beginning of installing this client
- Installation method (e.g. AlO, NCP, Bare Metal/Archive, etc.)
ncp
- Are you using CloudfIare, mod_security, or similar? (Yes / No)
I don't know
Summary of the issue you are facing:
The desktop client says “Some files cannot be synced. See below for errors. But there are no errors.
I know this is because my KDE system does not always automount the drive with nextcloud data on it, even though I have configured it to. However my issue with the nextcloud desktop client is that “See below for errors” is a lie! There are no errors below. (Fig. 1). Even if you scroll all the way to the bottom (not pictured).
If I hover over the systray icon, it says “setup error” which is the only clue that the desktop client can’t find the data. (Fig. 2).
Does anybody else have this problem or a solution to nextcloud errors not being visible?
Fig. 1. Nextcloud dialog with message “Some files couldn’t be synced! / See below for errors” but no errors visible.

Fig. 2. Nextcloud Systray icon with red circle and !, and a tooltip when you hover over it that says, “/media/user/mountpoint: Setup error.”
Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):
-
Install Nextcloud Client (download and run the AppImage), select an automounted drive as the local storage directory
-
Reboot computer. (make sure KDE does not automount the drive.)
-
Problem exists: Systray icon shows a red circle with a !, and you see the “See below for errors” message without any error messages.
-
“Fix” the error by mounting the NC data location, then pausing and restarting sync.
