Nextcloud version (eg, 20.0.5): 23.0.2
Operating system and version (eg, Ubuntu 20.04): Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye) - running from raspberry pi 4i and it's os.
Apache or nginx version (eg, Apache 2.4.25): Apache/2.4.54 (Debian)
PHP version (eg, 7.4): 7.4.33

The issue you are facing:
when trying to update nextcloud from the UI I keep getting an error

  • Check for expected files

The following extra files have been found:

  • externalHDD
  • home
  • ~

Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Y/N):

Steps to replicate it:

  1. login as the admin user
  2. settings → update
  3. start update

I set up my nextcloud almost a year ago I don’t really remember much about its configuration or password for the www-data user…
for now, everything is running fine is it even worth updating?
