i face an issue when trying to move to my own hosted NEXTCLOUD from public provider. Contacts extracted from NEXTCLOUD ann.nl.tab.digital to import into my own self-hosted NEXTCLOUD. Number of errors ranges from 100 to 150 out of all 432 contacts.
How is that possible? vcf extracted from NEXTCLOUD is not possible to import into another NEXTCOUD…
Please help me out, as i want to have it all in my hands, rely on my own Nextcloud and wanna lead by example pioneering it and helping others stop the dependence on big tech.
hi @rakekniven,
in my mobile client, where i switch between “public” and self-hosted nc, i selected feature to auto backup contacts and calendar. when nc executes to the public, i take the contacts from there, upload the file to my self-hosted nc and in the contacts app, i try to create new address book and import the file. btw, i got a record of ONLY 55 errors out of 432 contacts.
I host my nc29.0.6 on Asustor AS1102TL (only 1 GIG RAM) but it is dedicated to the nc hosting/operating only.
I am convinced it is related to some performance setting/issue as the error rate differs by every run. Pls let me know how to troubleshoot. If you have some check-list what to check / set to some minimum value - please let me know.
Thank you.
P.S. i really try to show people around that nc is The Way to got and ditch google/apple services. i run my mobile phone on CalyxOS…
@ccurley unfortunately not. after the import finishes, it only indicates number of errors. error volume is variable - therefore i assume it is not a “direct” bug, but somehow performance related. Based on this, i assume i need to fine-tune the nc as it is not gonna be fixed for me only
Also, try doing multiple imports of the same calendar until you get 0 successful imports. I conjecture that when the importer sees a UID that is already in the calendar, it refuses to import again, and calls that a failure.
@ccurley i apply the same logic of repeating the import aiming for 0 errors. however, the minimal number of errors was 39, maximal approx 150 out of 430 contacts. i tried 20+ times. I am loosing hope that the random coincidence would lead to zero error import…
i also erase the previous upload(s) from time to time, so i do not consider anything like UID to have an impact on the process…
