Hello i know this problem has been asked a lot here and there, i tried multiples solution without any success :'c so i’m heading here praying for help :pray:

to explain my projet, i’m currently making a end year projet for my IT school, and i must provide an cloud for tiny companies .

with my lack of fund and support (just an ESXi and some competences in windows server) i decided to run nextcloud with a windows file server, like that you can access your file (on the windows file server) with vpn + UNC connection in windows file explorer, but you can also use an https connection to nextcloud to manage your file,
nextcloud is just connected with SMB/CIFS connection on the windows file server.

so here’s the problem, i can’t upload a file on those SMB shared folder, i can on the local disk of nextcloud, but not on the share of the file server.

so it’s maybe a right permissions problem ? Between the nextcloud server and the windows fileserver ?

but i shearched everywhere i could, without any success .

thanks for your response and help.

Bye !

Hi, this looks like Files on SMB-share corrupted while up- and downloading · Issue #26457 · nextcloud/server · GitHub to mee…

Hello ! Thanks for your response.

I don’t think so, i don’t have any corrupted file problem, i can still navigate in my share even create folder and text file inside those share, but i still can’t upload anything :confused:

Any other suggestions ?

No, unfortunately :confused:

Ok thank you ^^

Anyone else ?

Hey man, hope your are doing well…

Can you please attach your smb.conf here?

# Sample configuration file for the Samba suite for Debian GNU/Linux.

#
# This is the main Samba configuration file. You should read the
# smb.conf(5) manual page in order to understand the options listed
# here. Samba has a huge number of configurable options most of which
# are not shown in this example
#
# Some options that are often worth tuning have been included as
# commented-out examples in this file.
# - When such options are commented with ";", the proposed setting
# differs from the default Samba behaviour
# - When commented with "#", the proposed setting is the default

Okay, thank you.

But where’s your shares?

You should have at least one to share with your nextcloud’s server.

Add the following lines at the end of that file:

[MyShare]
path = /path/to/your/shared/folder
browsable = yes
writable = yes
guest ok = yes
read only = no
sync always = yes

This is an example to test only, if it works we can configure a proper share.

PS.: Make sure you have php-smbclient and smbclient installed in your nextcloud server.

I suppoe @Chankopek is using a Windows server or comparable as SMB-server…

I was supposing that too, but if he is using the MSSMB how he had the smb.conf file?

Well the shares (the host of the shares is a windows server indeed) have been added with the “external storage” app in the GUI of nextcloud

I don’t remember configuring this smb.conf file,

Smbclient is installed, and the php-smbclient i never found the package with apt install, i must check (i’m not at home for the next couples hours) don’t remember if i did found another way to install php-smbclient or not.

Well, so where did you pick the smb.conf file from? :laughing:

Okay man, make sure you have the php-smbclient installed, otherwise it will not connect.

In my case, this was the packages that I had to install to work with:

php-smbclient.x86_64 php74-php-smbclient.x86_64 libsmbclient.x86_64 php-icewind-smb.noarch

From etc/samba ? ^^ guess it come from smbclient package not the php-smbclient one

Thanks for the packages names, gonna try to install ASAP :wink:

Well, that’s strange.

Are you sure you did not install all the samba package?

The smbclient does not have the /etc/samba dir as a dependency.

But this should not cause any other erros, when you can, try installing those packages mentioned above and tell me if it works.

Good luck mate, all the best!

Regards.
