Summary of the issue you are facing:
End-to-End Encrypted folders disappear from Windows after reboot.
Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):
I don’t have another Windows computer to test, but this happens consistently on mine
- Install Nextcloud desktop client on Windows.
- Create some folders in Nextcloud and mark them as encrypted.
- Put some files in the folders
- Verify that the encrypted folders sync correctly (they appear in Windows Explorer and on another device, e.g. Android).
- Reboot Windows.
- After reboot, the encrypted folders no longer appear in Windows Explorer
Encrypted folders should still be available in Windows Explorer after reboot, even though they are marked as “Always keep on this device”.
In the Nextcloud client UI, the folders are still listed, but the “Open folder” option is greyed out.
The encrypted folders are still visible on the web interface and on my Android device.
If I remove the sync connection and re-add it, the folders and their content sync again and reappear in Windows Explorer, but they disappear again after the next reboot.
Thanks
