Disable External Shares section in Details right menu

Hi! I would like to disable/hide the section External Shares in the right slide menu, which appears when I click details. This section shows the field to enter email address to share with external users.

I would like to disallow this function and not show any visual prompts.

As admin in the settings, you have quite a few options for the sharing. You can restrict to certain groups, disallow external shares, …

Which options I have to click to make that section disappear at all?

Disable “Allow users to share via link and email” and then also disable “Allow people on this server to send shares to people on other servers.” under “Federated Cloud Sharing”. The “External shares” section should then disappear from the sharing menu.

Those option have been switched off, however the section is still present. I use 32.x version.

Sorry, not sure then. I tested it on Nextcloud 34 and it worked. So either you can only make the ‘External Shares’ section disappear in a version released after Nextcloud 32, or you still have something enabled that makes use of it.

The settings may also have slightly changed in the meantime, with newer, more specific options. You might have to experiment with the settings to see what works. I’d definitely disable anything related to public shares or federation.

If you can’t make it work, upgrade! NC 32 will be EOL soon anyway. :wink:
