Did the junction folder handling changed in the windows client?

Hi,
I just realized that the win client has started synching junction folders on Windows which was not the case before. This is horrible if this has changed, because it means that many people who relied on this functionality won’t be aware of this massive change :frowning:

Nextcloud desktop client 3.14.1 Windows 11

Did the junction folder handling changed in the windows client?

If these are .lnk files, this was probably introduced in 3.14.0.

They are not .lnk files, they are actual junction folders (similar to symbolic links) on Windows. I really wished this was an optional setting if this was introduced because this is a breaking change in the long-standing behavior. Not that anything wrong with supporting them, but these are completely different behaviors and it should be off by default.

3.13.0 doesn’t sync junctions but 3.14 does This really sucks, all my project folders are completely messed up :frowning:

See here: [Bug]: Directory Symbolic Link _and_ Junction from a Nextcloud share to another Nextcloud share is synced on Windows, with errors · Issue #7157 · nextcloud/desktop · GitHub

Others are also complaining of this issue - I for one suffered data loss because of it.

junction folders never were handled at all before and once it got introduced it started causing all sorts of errors…

How do we get proper eyes on this? The GitHub incident is 2 months old now and still in “needs triage”
