Desktop & Mobile Apps

O I was just using Davdroid as an example (because I’m using that). I don’t even know if the Davdroid devs are open for this. I was just using it since I know it is open source software.

WThe name or product is of course interchangeably - the original question persists: if you plan to incorporate an open source app completely, does it not make the app itself obsolete? I’d expect an app developer to be … well reluctant at least to give up his brain child… even if it were for the greater good

Edit: woah, it is getting late I guess… skip that… one wouldn’t need to give the app up, as not everybody uses nextcloud, of course.

Silly me. Sorry for wasting anyone’s time

True.

I’m no android developer so I don’t know what they will do next. But I’d say there is still enough to do without adding new functionality like calendars and contacts. There are several apps out there that can do this perfectly. And will most likely be better suited (because calendar/contact syncing is all they do).

Hello,

IMHO CalDAV Sync and CardDAV Sync from Marten Gajda where the first stable solutions for Android and Owncloud CalDAV and CardDav sync and are still my favorites…
…perhaps there could be a cooperation between Nextcloud and Marten? http://dmfs.org/

Ciao,
Joachim

@rullzer yes we do have a lot of other things on our plate before that

As for Cal and card I would aim for some kind of plug in interface so the mentioned apps and any other could easily integrate with the app. So we wouldn’t compete with these app which wouldn’t be a nice thing to do but rather provide a platform / ecosystem which is rather welcoming devs to add value and possibly also earn money without having to be a core part of the app itself.

That would be very great to have the calDAV and cardDAV included in the nextcloud mobile app.

Thanks for the great work you already done!!!

Let’s close this here. There are already clients available for desktop and mobile devices. For specific feature requests please use the section for each client or use directly their repo on github.
