Deactivating the sending of notifications for changes to group memberships

The issue you are facing:
We are maintaining a Nextcloud installation and are currently facing the problem that emails are being sent to the users as soon as they are assigned to a group. We would like to deactivate this, but can’t find such an option.

Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?

It’s a personal preference every user has to set for himself. There is no global option, but I’ve posted my solution to update the database directly with SQL queries here:

For all users that query would be: UPDATE oc_preferences SET configvalue='0' WHERE configkey='notify_email_group_settings'; To only set it for a specific user you would add: AND userid='USERID' Make sure to make a backup of your database before trying it, just in case. It might also be noteworthy that this line only seems to exist if users actively changed this setting before.
