Customization of Subfolder permission

Hi There,

We just set up a Nextcloud DMS in our Company and we are slowly moving forward with roll out to our users. Our main focus is on how far we can let our users to utilize the Nextcloud DMS instead of the Share Drive.

The concern here is, I need to design the folder structure with option to customize inherited permission, where we can control some users/groups from accessing specific subfolders even though they have permission to the root folder. The current permission criteria of Nextcloud is not allowing me to do this.
Really appreciate if anyone can suggest me on how to achieve this with Nextcloud? Looking forward for the prompt reply.

Hi, This can’t be achieved with the sharing function itself. When a folder is shared, then users have access to all the files and sub- folders. What you can do however is to use file access control. Create a user group “CFO” and add the CFO user to that group go to Server Settings -> Workflow and create a new tag CFO go to Server Settings -> file access control and create a new rule “CFO restricted access” with Rules: file system tag – is applied – CFO user group membership – is not member…

This isn’t working for me, I did exactly as instructed here, but user A from group A has access to group B’s files, in a Group folder.
