Getting help

In order to help you as efficiently (and quickly!) as possible, please fill in as much of the below requested information as you can.

Before clicking submit: Please check if your query is already addressed via the following resources:

(Utilizing these existing resources is typically faster. It also helps reduce the load on our generous volunteers while elevating the signal to noise ratio of the forums otherwise arising from the same queries being posted repeatedly).

The Basics

  • Nextcloud Server version (e.g., 29.x.x):

  • Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Yes / No):

Summary of the issue you are facing:

Creating an MS 365 Account fails due closed pop-up

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

  1. Register my NextCloud-Instance and create an app secret.

  2. Start to create a Mail Account with login-name and passowrd

    1. Error appears:

      image

    2. Clicking “Sign Up with Microsoft”.

    3. Login Pop-Up shows up to enter username and password

    4. Nextcloud Mail App shows the following message:

      1. image
    5. Popup still was opened. I tried to follow the steps provided but my mail account is not created.

I tried to execute these steps with my private Hotmail-Account and it worked. Popup was not marked as “closed”.

That is probably the automatic procedure for a login to your Microsoft account to create a authentication token for Nextcloud’s mail app. I don’t know if Microsoft provides a manual way where you can create such a token on a web-interface, so you can enter this credentials directly in Nextcloud (without going through this back-and-forth process).

If you want it to work, it requires more debugging. And if you are not a admin of the Nextcloud, this is getting probably very hard.

It might help, if others can share their experience, if it works with their account on their Nextcloud so we can see if the feature works in principle or if there might be a bug.

(problem here, there are more private users that want to move away from MS 365 and similar solutions).

Hi,

it would be great, if this would work. What is needed for debugging? I set the log level to “DEBUG” but I do not see any unusual things.

About the token: I think it should work somhow but until now I could not find a way to crate a token manually. Does someone know, how?

Best, Georg
