I have a nextcloud instance installed on a local server. When I am at the office, this is accessed locally via the server IP address, over Ethernet. The nextcloud instance is also available online via a domain.
I would like to be able to create public links from the local client, so that they can be shared directly with clients, rather than having to log into the web instance, navigate to the file and share from there.
I’ve tried to do this by editing the hosts file in windows, but no luck. I’ve also seen mention of using a ‘hairpin nat’ or ‘split dns’ I’m wondering if this could be an option developed in future instances of nextcloud, where the client accesses files locally but is able to fetch public share links from the domain.
are there any guides to setting this up available?
