Wir versuchen gerade nur herauszufinden, was los ist. Sorry, falls wir dich gekränkt haben oder ähnliches - das liegt nicht in unserem Interesse. Das du von den Tools keine Ahnung hast macht nichts, wir erfragen uns schon die Informationen die wir brauchen. Solange deine Cloud aktuell noch läuft ist alles gut - wir fragen mal bei den Core Entwicklern nach, ob es Probleme beim Update Prozess geben könnte. Sobald wir eine Ahnung haben was los ist melden wir uns hier wieder!

Der nextcloud.log im data Verzeichnis wäre vermutlich noch hilfreich - bzgl. sensitiver Informationen auch gerne per PN.

If anyone has the same issue:

sudo fuser -k 443/tcp
service nginx stop 
service php7.0-fpm restart
service nginx start 
sudo -u www-data php /var/www/nextcloud/occ maintenance:mode --off

Der nextcloud.log im data Verzeichnis wäre vermutlich noch hilfreich - bzgl. sensitiver Informationen auch gerne per PN.

Außer der bereits geposteten Maintenance Mode Meldung gibts nichts im nextcloud.log. Auch keine Debug oder Info Meldungen.

Eventuell musst du zunächst noch das Loglevel anpassen: https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/12/admin_manual/configuration_server/logging_configuration.html

Und dann noch einmal versuchen, die App zu aktualisieren.

Mal als Beweis. Habe Cronjob abgewartet und dann das Update gestartet. Und so gehts immer weiter mit den Maintenance Meldungen.

Could this be related to Github beeing unavailable? Trying to download the tarbal directly from github doesn’t work either (at the moment).

https://github.com/nextcloud/contacts/releases/download/2.0.0/contacts.tar.gz does not work for me.

Mind testing if wget https://github.com/nextcloud/contacts/releases/download/2.0.0/contacts.tar.gz works on your server and downloads the archive?

Ok, although a faulty server shouldn’t cause this (there are routines which handle that case) it seems likely that this is the issue here, thanks @raimund-schluessler. Can you retest the update once the file becomes available for you? If you don’t want to wait, you can also download the release yourself and replace the files on the server.

Ok so what I saw is this: the download starts but is really very slow.

contacts.tar.gz                 5%[=>                                               ]  33,58K   909 B/s    in 38s

After some time it fails. Sometimes it also fails to establish a connection at all.

I think a good solution would be to show some info during the download of the app (and not to go into maintenance mode during the download). That way I would have seen that something is wrong with the download.

Hi, after trying to update the contacts app my nextcloud also does not respond anymore. conifg/config.php was in maintenance mode. I set it to false but nothing changed. I’m running version 12.0.3. Any idea?

Your cloud is still not responding? Try restarting the web-server.
It seems like the slow download speed for some people is causing timeouts/problems for the web-servers.

If anyone has the same issue:

sudo fuser -k 443/tcp 
service nginx stop 
service php7.0-fpm restart 
service nginx start 
sudo -u www-data php /var/www/nextcloud/occ maintenance:mode --off

Downloading and installing worked for me now after github seems to be working normally again.
