Connecting to WebDAV - wrong user/password?

Hello
I’ve been going through the guide: Accessing Nextcloud files using WebDAV and I have followed the " Creating WebDAV mounts on the Linux command line". I have done every step as user: root and not as the Nextcloud user.

I reached step 6: * Add your Nextcloud login credentials to the end of the secrets file, using your Nextcloud server URL and your Nextcloud username and password:*, but when I run the command

https://www.media.xxxxx.xx/nextcloud/remote.php/dav/files/USERNAME/ <username> <password>

I get a msg No such file or directory BUT if I put the URL into a browser it works, and I get prompted for credentials. However, my credentials do not work, I tried both with the root user as well as the Nextcloud user. NextCloud pauses for a while, then gives me a page that says Internal Server Error and suggests I look in the error log, but the log file in /nextclouddata does not show anything.

I tried opening the secret file in //etc/davfs2/secrets with a text editor and adding my credentials to it, but that did not change anything.

Any advice on how to proceed?

P.s.
I created another topic a couple of days ago, regarding the installation of WebDAV but now I have managed to get a bit further in the process so I created a new topic since the previous one no longer fits my problem. I hope that is okay!

Do you use 2fa? If so, please also note this:

Once you have enabled 2FA, your clients will no longer be able to connect with just your password unless they also have support for two-factor authentication. To solve this, you should generate device specific passwords for them. See Manage connected browsers and devices for more information on how to do this.
