Proprietary Enterprise version

Well, I’m afraid the answer to that is was just a deal to make money with another company - Struktur AG. Nextcloud now has a proprietary Enterprise version (with different code), which gets security fixes before the community, and a number of proprietary extensions for key functionality. The original “moral” reasons given for the split from Owncloud are now pretty obviously debunked, along with their “Values Statement”.
