Which general topic do you have
In my lab, a few people uses LO and the majority use MS Office.
Up to now, in our NC instance I am using Collabora On Line on a dedicated VPS but heard that NC is making Euro-Office, a in-house clone of OnlyOffcie (hopefully with no backdoors left behind).
Is it possible to set NC to open by default docx & friends with Euro-Office and odt & friends with Collabora On Line , perhaps with an “open with” optional menu and the possibility to choose different defaults for those who would like different combinations ?
I tested this years ago with ONLYOFFICE and Collabora, and yes, it did work.
However, the downside was that the New menu ended up containing duplicate entries for things like New Document, New Spreadsheet, and so on. You then had to know which entry would open which editor. The icons were slightly different, but at first glance it wasn’t really obvious which one belonged to which office suite.
I then managed to edit the menu entries somewhere in a file in the apps folder (I can’t remember which one anymore), but those changes were overwritten whenever the app was updated.
I eventually decided that it didn’t, and I ended up sticking with Collabora. For my needs, its support for Microsoft OOXML formats is good enough.
That said, I’m not a heavy Office user, so your mileage may vary.
