Summary of the issue you are facing:

LOCAL NAS ← VPN → NEXTCLOUD

I want to install Nextcloud on a cloud machine and set up bidirectional data synchronization with my local NAS (QNAP). Is this possible?

Also, I’d like to configure per-user folder access control (including the ability for users to request access permissions). Is this possible?

Off course, WebDAV it is.

the “WebDAV permission” is the Key!
not “ Shared folder permission

Then in shared folders : make a Folder and change the permissions.

Golden Tip for all QNAP users !!!

YOU NEED TO APLY THE

“Allow guest to have …..”

Otherwise it is not possible to connect (bug QNAP)

Then install the app “ external storage” in Nexcloud and connect it with your QNAP webDAV (DNS) link address.

in my case

https://mydomain.com:5001/NEXCLOUD

Use a ;
Cloudflare tunnel (limit 100MB)
MyQNAPcloud address
Oracle CLoud with Pangolin.
Etc.

Good luck, and Ai is your friend with further help
