Client unsupported Downgrade to version 3.17.3 or eralier

Hi,

my windows client did an update to Version 4.0.1, and says i have to downgrade the client.

Are with Version 4.x or new or higher server requieremts?

My server runs on Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS, PHP 8.3.27, mysql 11.4.8
Best regards,

Jan

Just a wild guess. Do you perhaps have the following line in config.php…?

'maximum.supported.desktop.version' => '3.17.3'

If so, either delete it or set it to a suitable value.

However, be aware that version 4 had a pretty rough start, with version 4.0.0 being withdrawn. Even now, with version 4.0.1, there are still open bug reports that sound pretty serious to me: GitHub · Where software is built.

Of course, not all users are affected by every issue all the time and often bugs only occur in specific configurations. However, to be on the safe side, it might be better sticking with version 3.17.3 for now…

truly, yes! Don’t know why its there written.

The Client doesn’t get this version restrictions from the server and starts the update to version 4.0.1. With the new version no connection ist established.

Thanks alot!

Did you perhaps use the installation instructions or installation script from C-Rieger? If so, this is why: Aktualisierungen und Neuigkeiten - Carsten Rieger And the reason for this is again the issues with 4.0.0.

If you didn’t use the C-Rieger script/instructions, I have no idea why it was there. As far as I know, this line is not added by default, and the default according to config.sample.php is…

'maximum.supported.desktop.version' => ‘99.99.99’,

Indeed, I did :smiley:

I had issues updating to a newer Ubuntu version, mariadb and also liked to make my media in my home network via dlna (using external files in NC) available. So I restructured my files and ended up, after working with NC for years now, using the script of C-Rieger with a plain new installation.

I’ll have a eye on the verion 4.x of the windows client and wait a couple of subversions until I go for the 99.99.99.

Thanks alot for your help and sharing your knowledge! :raising_hands::blush:
