Hey,
I think it’s very good that Nextcloud tries to be inclusive.
The Christmas theming of this forum isn’t, though. Christmas is christian after all…
Plus: I find it rather annoying.
Would you mind deactivating it?

Please go to your personal settings and select a theme without christmas of your choice.
Good to know that there is an option to deactivate it.
Yet I wonder: Why is it activated for everyone by default?
Maybe because more than 50% think Christmas is nice.
Christmas is also celebrated by many non-Christians and in many non-Christian countries.
For example, I would call myself an atheist, but I have no problem with Christmas decorations and Christmas celebrations in general. So for many people in the world, even people like me who were brought up as Christians, Christmas is more of a ‘cultural’ event than a religious one.
And then, in general, I think people should just chill out a bit and stop making such a big deal out of everything. I mean, yes, there are Santa hats and a bunch of candlesticks on the site, and if that’s really a problem for you, then maybe you’re the problem, and maybe you should ask yourself how ‘inclusive’ and tolerant you really are before you start preaching about inclusion.
I couldn’t agree more. Why on earth would the opinion of one (or a few) influence something that affects everybody.
If someone can’t deal with some very minor decorations that don’t influence the functionality of the forum at all, and that’s the most of their worries, they have a very nice life and should probably appreciate it more.
Also, there’s always the option to simply ignore the decorations, or if you (for whatever reason) REALLY can’t deal with the horror of Santa hats, twinkly lights and some bells, ask if YOU can turn it off. Asking if it can be turned off for everybody in the entire world is so arrogant I can’t even fathom how anyone could think that’s acceptable to ask.
The festival that we now call Christmas is thought to pre-date Christ. The Christians nicked it. So why not reclaim it and not worry about the name as does most of the secular world. For a start December suggests it’s the tenth month.
Live and enjoy the way we use and abuse names!
Hello Luja,
Inclusive is accepting others and yourself, not imposing your thoughts or annoyances on others.
For example, I can ask if the name Luja could change. It bothers me and many others on this forum
to be reminded of Luja.
Luja and namely a catheter for men.
Hello,
please always remain polite and respect each other.
Everyone is allowed to bring up topics, but replies should not be personal.
I will mute the topic now and wish you a nice, relaxed time.
Take care of yourselves and your Nextcloud.
All the best.
Hey,
I just wanted to thank you for all the posts, especially rakekniven.
I’m busy christmas-ing right now but I’m looking forward to reply in time.
Have a good time everyone!
Same. I love Christmas for what it is at least to me … a time of good cheer and good company. The Christmas decorations and music feel corny but comforting and if anything religious comes along, I just do something else. Besides, my wife is a Christmas baby so there’s a lot to celebrate
