Changing image date back to creation date

I’ve migrated successfully the files of me and my wife to my local Nextcloud installation.

Now i have the problem, that in the Photos-App all images are shown as “March 2021” and sorted by file name only.

Is there a chance to change the current date of the files back to the creation date (the date where the picture was taken) or otherwise change the view of the Photos taking the creation date from the image (as stored in the EXIF data)?

I know about Exif-Tool, used it on Windows already. But i am asking more what happens to the date and sort in NC

Do i need to rescan the folders after the date is changed?

I think that will be the only way to make Nextcloud aware of file changes which has been done, by by-passing the GUI? Do you agree?
