Can't update from 31.0.6 to 31.0.7

Summary of the issue you are facing:

No update button visible on the Administration settings, Overview page.

Also when I run sudo -u www-data php /var/www/owncloud/occ upgrade it says “No upgrade required.”

I saw the comment on the announcement saying someone else a similar issue with a reference to these bugs: [Bug]: Updater section and update channel missing from admin UI when no update is available · Issue #53705 · nextcloud/server · GitHub and [stable31] fix(updatenotification): respect updatechecker config by backportbot[bot] · Pull Request #52780 · nextcloud/server · GitHub.

I ran sudo -u www-data php /var/www/owncloud/occ config:system:set updatechecker --value=true --type=boolean
which returns System config value updatechecker set to boolean true

But occ config:list system still shows "updatechecker": false,

If I open the config file in nano it shows true.

I rebooted and tried again same result.

Questions:

  1. Why can’t I upgrade (via web or occ)?
  2. Why does occ config:list show updatechecker set to false when other methods indicate true?

(This is the first upgrade issue I’ve had since the owncloud days, almost a decade ago)

Tips for increasing the likelihood of a response

  • Use the preformatted text formatting option in the editor for all log entries and configuration output.
  • If screenshots are useful, feel free to include them.
    • If possible, also include key error output in text form so it can be searched for.
  • Try to edit log output only minimally (if at all) so that it can be ran through analyzers / formatters by those trying to help you.

sudo -u www-data php /var/www/owncloud/occ /var/www/owncloud/updater/updater.phar

Thank you @dolphinscorp. I found the command sudo -E -u www-data php /var/www/owncloud/updater/updater.phar worked. (As found in step 2 of Using the command line based updater
