Please provide the log entries from your Nextcloud log that are generated during the time of problem (via the Copy raw option from Administration settings->Logging screen or from your nextcloud.log located in your data directory). Feel free to use a pastebin/gist service if necessary.

sorry I'm not that clever

Web Browser

If the problem is related to the Web interface, open your browser inspector Console and Network tabs while refreshing (reloading) and reproducing the problem. Provide any relevant output/errors here that appear.

The output of occ config:list system or similar is best, but, if not possible, the contents of your config.php file from /path/to/nextcloud is fine (make sure to remove any identifiable information!):

Tips for increasing the likelihood of a response

  • Use the preformatted text formatting option in the editor for all log entries and configuration output.
  • If screenshots are useful, feel free to include them.
    • If possible, also include key error output in text form so it can be searched for.
  • Try to edit log output only minimally (if at all) so that it can be ran through analyzers / formatters by those trying to help you.

Hi @tillymoose, no need for logs yet, this is usually one of a few simple things:

When you export from Google Calendar (Settings > Import & export > Export), Google gives you a .zip file, not an .ics. Unzip it first. Inside there is one .ics file per calendar, and those are what you import.

In the Nextcloud Calendar app, open Calendar settings at the bottom left and use Import calendar. Pick the .ics file and choose which calendar it should go into (or a new one).

After the import, make sure that calendar is ticked as visible in the left sidebar, and jump to a date you know has events. If your Google calendar is mostly older events, the current week can look empty even when the import worked.

If the file is very large, the import can time out on a hosted instance. In that case try importing one calendar file at a time.

If none of that works, tell us what you see after you click import (an error message, a spinner, or nothing at all) and that will narrow it down.

Cheers from the Novastart team, where we build an infinite canvas workspace.

Thanks, it was my impatience and ignorance. I can now see dates populating the calendar if I sit back and let it digest.

I saw no gauge for the progress of the ingestion of the .ics file, hence I suspected some file incompatibility etc.

I’d like to suggest adding a progress bar at this point, for the future unwary.

Best regards!
