Dears, I’m running the last version od NextCloud 11.0.2 stable and Android app 1.4.2 (but I tried Fdroid beta app and problem is the same).
If I open a Microsoft Office file like a .Xlsx, it will be open in read only mode. i run android 7.1.1
No problems with Android 6.*
I have to set other special permissions? No problems with Cirrus app.

this issue has been raised in our tracker here: https://github.com/nextcloud/android/issues/751
We haven’t found the time yet to take a deeper look. I tested it with Android 7, a Word file and Google Docs as an editor and that worked. So need to take a deeper look. Best is to join the Github issue, since that one is closer to the development or the developers respectively.
